I stand at the beach, watching the waves rolling onto the sand, for the longest time. The water sweeps in, rests for a moment in a graceful curve, lustrous with reflected light, and glides back out again, crashing and tumbling against the next wave. The sand shines briefly, drinking the salt water into its pores, and then fades in readiness to receive the next wave. Over... and over... and over...
